Capture and divert
One of the first steps in any property's drainage system install or renovation is to capture water on or near the structure's roof and foundation. Typical methods include downspout adapters, catch basins, french drains, etc. Then it is diverted, sub-surface, to the proper area based on its topography and engineered drainage channels.
Surface regrading to divert
Assessing the land's ability to mange water flow during storms and contouring the surface grading to keep it away from the foundation, irrespective of any current landscaping or prior to any landscape installation, is the final part of any well-functioning drainage system.
