Frequently Asked Questions
What type of lawn fertilization products do you use?
We work closely with our wholesale suppliers to insure all products used are pet and kid friendly. If traditional fertilization products don’t interest you, reach out so we can discuss and build you an organic fertilization program.
How long do you warranty plants?
Starting at the beginning of the 2021 growing season, we will include a 2 year warranty on plantings. Certain exclusions apply, but plants carrying a one year warranty only will be called out before work begins.
When should you do winter watering?
Winter watering should be done during warm periods of the winter months, and only when the air temperature is above 40 degrees. The primary reason winter watering is so important is to protect plants during the transition from warm, dry conditions to a cold snap, which is a major factor in the winter kill of plants. New plantings are much more vulnerable to winter drought conditions.
What is turf enhancement?
Turf enhancement consists of:
Dethatching (when build up is excessive)- removing the dead and decaying material between the green grass you see and the soil. This will allow for air, water and nutrients to reach the soil more easily.
Aeration- this is another way to increase the air, water, and nutrients that reach the grass root zone.
Over Seeding- using the proper type and broadcast rate to get the best results.
Top Dressing- spreading a 1/8″-1/4″ layer of loamy soil amended with high nitrogen and other organic matter filled compost. This provides protection and a medium for the seed to germinate and grow.
How often do i need to aerate?
Aeration is recommended once per year with the typical clay heavy mix of Colorado soils, twice per year on heavy traffic areas and areas with excessive thatch build up, and once every two to three years with a high sand content soil profile, though not seen much in Colorado.
